Lukas at International Science and Engineering Fair in Dallas

Former SOČ student Lukas Drdla attended the International Science and Engineering Fair in Dallas, USA in May 2023. Approximately two thousand students under the age of 20 were nominated from 60 countries for this year’s competition. Lukas gained the opportunity to attend the event thanks to the success in the national round of Secondary-school professional activities (SOČ). His work focused on the application of microfluidics in environmental protection was done in Loschmidt Laboratories from 2020 to 2022. Lukas assessed participation in the ISEF as a very interesting experience in many ways: “It was exciting for me to travel to such a distant destination, and get to know the local culture, but also the other competitors – students of the same age from different countries around the world. All presented theses were of high quality and very inventive”. Lukas appreciated also the social program which involved a visit to the Museum of natural history and watching a baseball match. Lukas says: “I would like to thank everyone from LL for the amazing support they gave me during my research on microfluidics, especially my supervisor Michal Vasina”. We thank Lukas for his exceptional representation of Loschmidt Laboratories and Masaryk University!
