Research interests

Martin is a dedicated microbiologist with a passion for biotechnology. During his MSc, he delved into the field of metabolic engineering of microbes, aiming to sustainably and effectively produce bioplastics. Now he is poised to unravel the mechanisms underlying the function of luciferase enzymes in Sea pens, colonial marine cnidarians belonging to the order Pennatulacea. Combining knowledge from diverse scientific disciplines, Martin is honing his expertise in structural and molecular biology, protein engineering, and bioinformatics. His research is focused on harnessing this gained molecular knowledge to drive advances in biotechnology and biomedicine.
