Press Release: We Are Closer to Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is a devastating disease that disrupts part of the brain and causes cognitive decline – thinking and memory. It gradually leads to the patient’s dependence on the daily help of a caring person.
A team of scientists from Loschmidt Laboratories together with colleagues from Faculty of Science, Masaryk University, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute and International Clinical Research Center of St. Anne’s University Hospital Brno and Faculty of Medicine MU is closer to the answer how to prevent and treat Alzheimer’s disease. They discovered a key role of a specific apolipoprotein in the development of Alzheimer’s dementia and found a drug candidate which is in advanced clinical testing with expected approval in 2025.
