LL’s Contribution to CzecHopes
Loschmidt Laboratories participated in the CzecHopes conference for high school students! The event aims to inspire and motivate students to explore new activities beyond the standard school curriculum.
We prepared two engaging workshops for this year’s participants:
- Jan Cesnek guided students through the lab, showing them the process of protein preparation. Students got hands-on experience growing bacteria on agar plates to produce proteins and searched for the best variants using luminescence.
- David Lacko led a theoretical workshop demonstrating the power of AI in protein engineering. Together, they designed a binder for the COVID-19 spike protein and discussed the real-world challenges of producing and using such proteins in biomedicine.
Reflecting on the event, David said: “It was great to see so many companies and student associations involved in CzecHopes. The turnout was fantastic, with even more students signing up this year than last!”
