Microbiological Excursions
Students from the Faculty of Science at Masaryk University recently had the opportunity to take part in an enriching four-day field trip, visiting:
- Czech Collection of Microorganisms: Learned about the storage of microbial samples and attended a fascinating talk about an expedition to Antarctica.
- RECETOX, CELSPAC Biobank: Explored the collection and processing of biological samples and monitoring in population studies.
- EPS Biotechnology: Toured analytical and microbiological laboratories, the bioreactor lab, and enjoyed a guided tour (with a tasting!) at the brewery.
- GeneProof: Gained an overview of the company’s focus on in vitro diagnostics and the specialized devices they offer.
Field trips are incredibly valuable for students, often providing their first exposure to professional practice outside of university lab exercises. I believe these visits truly met the students’ expectations and sparked new interests!
A huge thank you to our hosts for their time, the insightful tours, and their patience in answering all our questions.
